Here is my conversion list for the second Stretch I stitched.
Flames were done in
Kreinik blending filaments, 150v for the lighter color, 152v for the darker, and a blend
of the two for a mid range color. Basically I just looked at the picture and tried to
alterrnate light and dark areas to give the flames some depth. I backstitched with one
strand of 150v.
The feathers by his mouth were done in 3821/3852 (top) and 3852/3829 (bottom) and were
backstitched in 3821.
The feathers off the top of his head were pretty much just the blends taken from the
flames in the original. Just replacing the lightest for lightest, etc.
His body is as follows...
911 for the upside down and backwards L (504/3747)
910 for the two dots side by side (503/3840)
909 for the empty triangle (502/3839)
3818 for the bolded upside down T
3818/791 for his underbelly
BS in 500 for the whole body.
Feathers on his leg were done in the same colors as the feathers on his mouth, I think I
just added one feather in just 3852 and one in just 3829 along with the blends.
For his wings, the person I was stitching for wanted a more "realistic" looking
dragon (LOL, yeah I know... but at least one not so fantastical) and I admit, I was lazy
<g> so I didn't want to stitch in all the feathers. So basically what I did was
seperate the wing into 3 sections according to the color groups in the original ie: purple
section, red section, yellow section. Then I stitched each section in one color, just
putting in the quarter stitches in the original on the bottom row of that section so it
wasn't a straight line across the wing and looked a little more natural. (If that doesn't
make sense, email me and I can try to explain it better)
The colors I used on the wing were...
912/3840 for the top section
502/3840 for the middle section
504 for the bottom section
I backstitched the wing in 502, and just put in backstitches between the quarter stitches
to suggest wings or scales.
The tail was done in 504/3840 for the lightest color on the edge, then I think 911 and 910
as the mid colors and the 3818/791 blend in the center.
Oh, and I just used a single strand of Kreinik blending filament 033 for his eye.
